PDLC — polymer dispersed liquid crystal — is the film behind switchable glass. Powered on, the crystals line up and the glass is clear; powered off, they scatter and the panel turns a solid white translucent, blocking the view completely in well under a second. It is the answer for a boardroom or a consulting room that needs to be open most of the day and private on demand, without blinds hanging in front of the glass.
We retrofit self-adhesive PDLC film onto your existing toughened glass, and supply laminated smart glass panels where the glass is being made new. Either way the electrical run has to be planned before installation — the driver, the switch position, and how the wire reaches the glass edge are decided at the site visit, not afterwards.

Smart Glass Film — common questions
The panel goes opaque — that is its unpowered state. It is worth deciding early whether that fails in your favour: for a bathroom or a doctor's cabin it does, for a partition you would rather see through in an emergency it does not, in which case we suggest keeping one section as plain glass.
Usually yes. The glass needs to be flat, sound, and clean — retrofit film shows every ripple in old or slightly bowed panes, and the edges have to be sealed properly or moisture creeps in and clouds the border. We inspect the actual glass before quoting rather than after.
Barely. PDLC is a privacy technology, not a solar one. If the same glass also faces the sun, the honest answer is a sun control or ceramic film on the outer surface and PDLC on the inner — we quote them as two separate line items so you can see what each is doing.
No — it reads like frosted glass: the view is blocked entirely, but daylight still comes through. If you need darkness as well as privacy, that is a blind or a blackout film, and we will say so.
You are paying for a liquid-crystal laminate and its electronics rather than a printed polyester. Where the privacy only needs to be permanent, frosted film does the same job for a fraction of the price — we would rather tell you that than sell you switchable glass you will never switch.
