Mirror Works — common questions
Copper-free mirror, every time. Standard mirror backing corrodes where moisture reaches the edge, and that black creep spreads inward and cannot be repaired. Copper-free costs slightly more and is the reason a bathroom mirror still looks right after ten years.
With safety backing film and correct fixing, yes — the film holds the fragments to the wall if a panel is ever struck, which is exactly the risk in a gym or a child's room. Mirror fixed with adhesive alone onto a bare wall is the version we get called to replace.
Yes — arches, circles, capsule shapes, and cut-outs for switches are all cut and polished to a template. Anything unusual we template on site rather than from a measurement, because a shape that is 5mm out is visible from across the room.
They need a concealed point behind the mirror, which is a wiring decision, not a mirror decision — so it has to be planned before the wall is finished. If the point does not exist, we can run a slim surface conduit, but it is always the second-best answer.
Five to eight days for standard cutting, bevelling, and polishing; a little longer for antique finishes and backlit units. Templating for shaped mirrors adds a day.
